AC Installation in Orange County, CA

When replacement beats another repair

  • The system is 15+ years old and repairs are becoming annual
  • A major component has failed — compressor, evaporator coil or condenser
  • The unit still uses R-22 refrigerant, which is no longer produced
  • Rooms never cool evenly no matter what the thermostat says
  • Summer bills keep climbing on an aging, low-efficiency system

Sizing the system correctly

Tonnage comes from the house: square footage, ceiling height, window area and orientation, insulation, and how the ductwork is laid out. A bigger unit is not a better unit — an oversized AC cools the air fast, shuts off before it removes humidity, and leaves the house cold and clammy while wearing out the compressor. We measure before we quote.

What's included in an installation

  • Free on-site evaluation of the home, the existing ductwork and the electrical service
  • Equipment options at different efficiency levels, with the trade-offs explained
  • Removal and responsible disposal of the old system
  • New pad or roof mount, line set, disconnect and condensate drainage as the job requires
  • Refrigerant charge verified by measurement, airflow checked, thermostat set up and tested with you

Straight-cool, heat pump or ductless

Not every home should get the same answer. A straight-cool condenser paired with an existing furnace is often the simplest replacement. A heat pump handles cooling and heating from one outdoor unit, which suits Southern California's mild winters well. A ductless mini-split is the practical choice for an addition, a converted garage or a room the ductwork never reached. We'll tell you which applies to your house and why.

Frequently asked questions

How long does an AC installation take?

A straightforward residential changeout is usually a single day. Jobs that add or modify ductwork, or that involve rooftop equipment, can run longer — we tell you the expected schedule with the estimate.

Is the estimate really free?

Yes — free and with no obligation for installations and replacements anywhere in our Orange County and LA County service area.

Do I have to replace the furnace at the same time?

Not always. If the furnace is healthy and its blower can move the airflow the new coil needs, it can stay. When it can't, we'll show you why rather than bundling it in by default.

Are you licensed to do this work?

Yes. HG Heating & Air holds an active California C-20 HVAC contractor license, CSLB #1072565, with a $25,000 bond and workers' compensation coverage. You can verify it yourself at cslb.ca.gov.
